The Lens Bot was developed with guild/server owners and members in mind. The bot will never store any kind of information that is not crucial for the bot to operate. The bot does not and never will have any function to store user data/message contents internally.

Collecting Data, Why, and Duration​

Upon running a command with the bot, it will automatically store any needed information which may include:

  • Guild IDs (always stored)
  • Set Channel ID
  • Set Role ID
  • Autopunish Settings
  • Enabled Filters
  • Whitelisted Words
  • Blacklisted Words (Deprecated)

All of the above are crucial to the bot's day to day operations and are only stored once their corresponding commands are run. The data is stored until the bot is removed from the guild.

Messages that get reported for being vulgar by the bot are only sent to that guild's reports channel meaning that only guild owners/admins (not Lens owners) can see the aforementioned messages.

When the bot experiences an error, it is sent to a channel in the Lens Support guild. Once the problem that caused the problem is fixed and marked as solved, the message sent is automatically deleted.

If the bot is offline for whatever reason and the bot is removed from a guild, it will be removed the same day or next day depending on when the next scheduled sync is.

Infrastructure and Security​

The bot is hosted in one of many locations that our provider, Hetzner, has throughout the world. All of the bot's services run on this server. There is also a failover server for the self-hosted status page only. Any computer accessing this server has to have one of three IP's or else the server will not respond. On top of this, the server makes use of SSH-keys and fail2ban just incase. All accounts that can be used to access this server must have top security settings possible (32 character passwords, and Two Factor Authentication). Data stored in the database can only be seen by Lens and Lens owners.

By using the bot, users agree automatically to the privacy policies of the services listed above. No user-identifying information will ever be sent to a third party service.
